Winter at the award-winning St Tudy Inn in Cornwall is truly magical, from stunning skies awash with pastel pinks at sunset, to majestic crashing waves. Where better to wake up on a cold winter’s morning than in a cosy pub on the doorstep of the Cornish countryside?  We are currently running our winter stay offer which includes two nights in one of our elegant rooms as well as a complimentary two-course meal, a bottle of house wine from our sumptuously seasonal menu and breakfast each morning… All for just £260. If you’re looking for a real home and hearth vibe during your quiet retreat, then we can’t wait to greet you. We even have some ideas to inspire you during your stay at our sanctuary, named one of the cosiest pubs for an autumn break by The Times.

Day one

First of all, welcome to your rural escape by the coast. Arrive and settle into your home away from home in the heart of the countryside where all four of our rooms have been sumptuously converted from a derelict barn, adjacent to the Inn. Each is complete with king-size beds, separate en suites and smart TVs, not to mention heated mirrors and digitally controlled heaters to keep you toasty during your stay. Oh, and four-legged friends are welcome, too!

Stretch your legs after your journey down to the Duchy with a walk across one of our many expansive beaches. Explore the harbour and shingle shore of Port Isaac, take your furry friend for a run across Trebarwith Strand Beach (which happens to be dog friendly all year), or venture further afield and head to the famous surfing hotspot of Polzeath Beach. Spend the afternoon wave-watching or admiring the surfers brave the lower temperatures.

After a blustery, refreshing walk along the sand, reward yourself with a steaming coffee from nearby Rock before getting the ferry over to Padstow for a wander. Here you will find a plethora of charming shops to explore, from delis and local artisan businesses to clothing stores and art galleries. Pick up an early Christmas gift or a keepsake to remind you of your time by the coast. Visit the National Lobster Hatchery, a marine conservation, research and education charity for a particularly fascinating experience and learn all about its pioneering project working alongside the local fishing community. Alternatively, take a trip to Slickers Doghouse, your one-stop shop for all high-quality dog products, gifts and accessories, from jumpers to shampoo. Indulge your pooch in a new toy or treat before heading back to the St Tudy Inn for a relaxing evening. Our roaring fire will be waiting to welcome you, and you’ll be free to spend the evening sipping from a glass of wine while the wind howls outside. Finally, relax into your soft bed and rest your head in preparation for another day of exploring.

Day two

Wake up in the warmth and comfort of your beautifully appointed room and pad over to the Inn for a delicious breakfast to fuel your day of adventuring. Perhaps you want to venture across the South West Coast Path, hot flask packed and furry friend in tow, to hunt down the best spots for some time by the sea. Venture to Pentire Point, the perfect stretch of coastline to take in the far-reaching views and exceptionally beautiful headland, surrounded by wildlife. Make sure to stop off for lunch en route at our sister brand, The Atlantic New Polzeath, where you’ll enjoy some delicious Mediterranean-inspired food to help you on your way. From fresh salads bursting with local produce to succulent grilled meats and seafood, each dish is crafted with care and passion. Complemented by a carefully curated wine list and friendly service, dining with us here promises an unforgettable experience in the heart of Polzeath. If you are with us over the weekend, you could even treat yourself to a hearty Sunday lunch before heading back.

If you want to use your second day for some rejuvenating relaxation, head over to St Moritz Hotel for a pamper; the luxurious spa is not only the perfect place for some TLC, it also happens to be the UK’s only Cowshed Spa outside of Soho House properties. The unique rustic-luxe concept offers visitors the ultimate space to unwind and enjoy a glass of champagne. Relax with a signature facial to leave your skin glowing, drop in for a quick manicure, or book an indulgent couple’s massage. Treatments are tailored to suit you and there is no doubt you will leave feeling revived and pampered.

After another busy day, head back to the welcoming comfort of St Tudy Inn and sit back as we serve your complimentary two-course dinner and bottle of wine. Our seasonal and locally sourced menu showcases vibrant flavours and ingredients from our incredible local larder here in north Cornwall. Starters include warming homemade soup with Coombeshead Farm sourdough, crayfish with smoked salmon and marie rose sauce, plus much more. Take a bite of the St Tudy cheeseburger with red cabbage coleslaw and rosemary fries, or our fantastically cooked Buttons aged rib eye steak for some fine dining. If you prefer something meat-free, try our wild mushroom risotto with wilted spinach and Grana Padano, guaranteed to nourish and warm. At the end of your second day with us, tumble back into bed for another peaceful night’s sleep in the countryside.

Wake up once again to be greeted with a filling breakfast to fuel you on your journey home. Load up the car and wave goodbye to the coast as you reminisce about your favourite parts of your last few days at St Tudy Inn, asking yourself just how soon is too soon to come back?

Peruse our two-night stay and everything we have to offer at the Inn on our website; we would love to host you during your rural escape.
